Tsura (Tsura, #1)Tsura by Heather Anastasiu
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tsura is a gripping story about love during war time. The same intensity that prevailed during WWII is clearly felt in the way the author presents the plight of the Romanian Jews during the German invasion. The author kept up the pace in this fast moving story which unrequited love was even more poignant when you had to live in daily fear that every day might be your last. This was even more so for Tsura, Mihai, Andrea and then Luca. I was not able to connect with Tsura. I found her hard and selfish, which drew me even more into the story. And what a story, phases, such as, “death or betrayal, she didn’t know which cut the deepest,” were commonplace. The human emotions were magnified ten-fold in this war ravaged story. Highly recommend!

My review of the sequel to "Tsura"

House of Stone by Heather Anastasiu

I agree with one reviewer who said she immediately bought the sequel after reading "Tsura". I did the same. “Tsura” was so raw and heart-wrenching that there was no way I was going to continue without reading the sequel, House of Stone. And just as I’d expected, this book was even more heart-wrenching than the Tsura, if that’s possible. The writer did an excellent job taking the reader into the very heart of the WWII with all its ugliness. It was brutally honest to a fault, and the love Mihai felt for his wife without verbalizing it made the story even more compelling. I read it in one sitting. I have to admit, I still didn’t warm up to Tsura, but Mihai has a soft place in my heart. Great story!
